The mission statement tells you up front: “A supportive and nurturing place to work alongside people doing work they’re passionate about and committed to, where 80% of people want to say hi.” Welcome to Collective Agency, an incubator without borders for people who want to meet and build, well, anything.
It’s a “DIY” atmosphere here. Almost a permanent Startup Weekend place for, as Alex Linsker the founder says, “self-organizing teams, loosely-coordinated”. Want a table for plants unlimited? You got it. Need a team member with a specific skill set? They’ll get the word out. Members choose to be one of two types, paid with 24/7 access, or free with M-F, 9-5 access. For members or non-members, hourly charges to use meeting rooms with ample presentation resources..
The members are definitely in charge; no dictators need apply. They sign off, vote and speak up on everything from moving tables around to the calendar of events. Even the constitution says it will be flexible and change with the changing times.
Alex’s background is community organizing and he has created one of the biggest communities ever – a community for everyone with a passion and a purpose.
